Automatic receipt recognition is an optional feature in version 1.2.0.

You only need an account when you want to sync groups with other people and devices.
Share the group you choose
Enable online sync for a specific group. Your other groups stay on your device.
Invite by email
The invitee signs in or creates an account, then enters the eight-digit invitation code from the email in PayTogether.
Keep everyone up to date
Expenses and changes in the shared group sync with its members. Everyone can see the shared activity and recalculated balances.
Only the group you share is shared.
Members cannot access other groups in your account that you have not shared.

When signed in, you can take or choose a receipt photo and ask PayTogether to detect its items. It suggests item names and amounts, plus one category for the whole receipt.
Review the suggestions, correct them if needed and choose who shared each item. Only then save them as individual expenses in your group.

Take a photo or choose one from your library. Adding an image alone does not start AI analysis.

Tap “Detect items automatically”. The feature requires an account and an internet connection.
Check the suggestions
The image is sent through the PayTogether API to Ollama Cloud. Detected items remain suggestions until you review and save them.

Can I use PayTogether without an account?
Yes. You can manage groups and expenses locally on your device. You only need an account to sync with other people.
Do invitees need an account already?
No. After receiving an invitation, they can create an account with their email address, sign in and enter the eight-digit invitation code from the email.
Is my receipt uploaded automatically?
No. You start recognition yourself. Only then is the selected image sent to the PayTogether API and Ollama Cloud. See the privacy policy for details.
